Mr Alex Magnussen MBBS BSc FRCS(Tr&Orth)
I am an Orthopaedic Surgeon based at London North West University NHS Trust.
My subspecialist practice is focused upon treating conditions of the hand, wrist, shoulder and elbow. I pride myself on close communication and teamwork with my patients, sharing decision-making with them to achieve the best possible outcomes. I use non-operative options whenever possible but when surgical intervention is necessary I employ a precision, evidence-based approach, aiming for a standard of excellence with all my results.
I received my medical degree from Imperial College London, qualifying with a Distinction in Clinical Practice. My specialist training was in the North-West Thames Rotation in London.
I have completed several prestigious international fellowships. I was appointed senior international fellow at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, Australia, an ortho-plastics hand unit, with an additional upper limb and hand fellowship at Maquarie University, Sydney. I have also obtained major and complex trauma upper limb experience at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.
I have an active interest in research with multiple publications and have presented my work nationally and internationally. I hold professional memberships of the British Society of Surgery of the Hand and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society, ensuring I remain up to date with current advances in practice.
I actively engage in medical education, lecturing and mentoring Imperial College Medical Students as well as North West Thames Specialist Orthopaedic Registrars.
I am approachable and reliable, both with my patient and my clinical colleagues and am proud to receive regular feedback supporting this.
